I want to apply for an EU Blue Card
The EU Blue Card is a work and residence permit for highly educated migrants from outside the European Union. The EU Blue Card exists alongside the Dutch Highly Skilled Migrants Scheme and is not a replacement for it.
Conditions for the EU Blue Card
Conditions for the EU Blue Card
- You must earn at least €5,572 gross per month (excluding 8% holiday pay), which amounts to a gross salary of €68,325.12 (including 8% holiday allowance). This is higher than for the Highly Skilled Migrant Scheme
- You must have completed a higher education programme and had the foreign diploma evaluated by International Credential Evaluation (IDW)
Advantages of the EU Blue Card
Although the conditions for an EU Blue Card are stricter than for the Highly Skilled Migrant Scheme, the card offers holders several interesting advantages.
- The cardholder may reside and work in another EU member state without requiring a temporary residence permit (MVV)
- Eligibility requirements for the permanent EC residence permit for long-term residents are more flexible
- A company wishing to employ a highly educated migrant holding an EU Blue Card does not have to be recognised as a sponsor by the IND
- Family reunification with spouses, registered partners and minor children is permitted and family members have free access to the labour market
